Does Rainbow Six Siege Have a Single-Player Campaign?

Rainbow 6 Siege is one of the more competitive multiplayer shooters out there, and with a very entertaining eSports scene, it's easy to understand why loads of people put in the sweat and effort needed to be decent.

But what if you'd like to chill, just play some storyline, and have no stakes on your KD ratio or SBMM in online matches? With so much lore attached to each operator, the question "Does Rainbow 6 Siege have a single-player campaign?" gets thrown around a lot—and sadly, you might not like the answer.

Tom Clancy games are somewhat similar to one another in theme—military espionage and strategy—and in this particular title, the entire focus is bringing that theme to competitive multiplayer arenas. I mean, sure, you can hop into a terrorist hunt as a solo player and clear AI opponents from existing maps in the game, but that's arguably more suitable to be called "aim training" than a campaign of any kind.

Luckily, there are options to satiate your hunger for single-player or co-op campaigns in the universe that Tom Clancy has made for us.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Extraction

This is the closest you'll get to a campaign in relation to R6 Siege. In this scenario of the universe, many of the operators from Siege who'd been training for years get called out to take on an alien invasion threatening all life on earth. The core mechanics are the same as in R6 Siege, and you'll see many familiar faces if you're a fan of the original game.

In R6 Extraction, you can drop in solo, or play in a team of up to 3, with a series of objectives you and your squad have to complete. Equipped with unique weapons, your mission is to get in, clear enemies, complete your objectives, and extract safely without any casualties.

R6 Extraction has a lot of replayability, and it really does feel like jumping into a "campaign mode" when you're already playing a lot of R6 Siege.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint

If you're looking for a completely solo experience with a detailed storyline and lots of player progression, then maybe Ghost Recon Breakpoint is for you. The game is set in a foreign country where you, a ghost, have been sent in to take out loads of enemy soldiers and operatives who are trying to launch AI warfare against allied nations.

In Breakpoint, you'll be playing as a customizable character in an open world that is set up similarly to other Ubisoft open-world games, such as Far Cry or Assassin's Creed, except with guns and hi-tech military equipment. If you've spent any time in other Ubisoft open-world titles, you'll notice many similarities as you're progressing through the game's 30-hour-long storyline.

The game has a great multiplayer scene too, where you can play co-operatively and loot better weapons around the map while dodging other squads trying to do the same.

In a Nutshell

If you ask me, it's a little strange that a game from Tom Clancy, a famous American author with over 50 books published, doesn't have a single-player or even co-op campaign. On the flip side, though, it did let the developers over at Ubisoft perfect the competitive arena genre that they adopted with the launch.

If there had been more focus on a single-player campaign, R6 Siege might not have survived for as long as it has.
