Can I make money with custom maps, skins, and mods in CS:GO?

I am a graphic designer and avid gamer, so I was thinking about making some custom skins, maps, and mods with a friend who is also a gamer and an experienced developer. Could we earn money from this? I can see a lot of people are doing it, but I don't know how we can sell what we create.

Most things in the community workshop don't get you paid for submitting, though if Valve likes what you've submitted, like specific skins and artworks, they can be chosen to enter the game in crates or batte-passes etc. where you'll get paid a bit for it. I wouldn't depend on it.
