How does the Valorant point system change with updates and new releases?

Hey guys. I've been playing Valorant for a few weeks, and I am still getting the hang of all the details when it comes to updates and new releases, such as new seasons and episodes. I was thinking of buying some VPs for weapon skins, so I wanted to ask if these updates affect the point system of the game, and if they do, how?

If there are any updates over time that are to do with the value of VPs, it'll just be that prices for items *might* go down (unlikely because RioT has a deep love with money.) The prices for actual VP's will likely always stay the same, and you won't be changing any factors of the game by having a boatload of them.
