While Valorant is a team-based game, you can most certainly queue into a match by yourself. However, playing solo queue does come with its pros and cons.

» Is competitive queue disabled for you? Learn how to fix it

Pros of Solo Queue in Valorant:

  • Faster Matchmaking You'll be able to get into a game fast since you will just be filling any remaining open spots in a team.
  • Mechanical Focus While you will definitely still need to communicate with your team, it's hard to expect the same quality of voice chat in a solo queue game as opposed to playing in a premade team with friends. Let this be an opportunity to hone in on landing those headshots!

Cons of Solo Queue in Valorant:

  • Worse Communication It will be harder to coordinate with teammates you've never met before, especially if voice chat is not something they use. Plus, your teammates can be premade parties of 3 or 4 players who are chatting in a Discord lobby outside the game.
  • Role Selection When playing as a 5-man group, you are essentially guaranteed your preferred role and agent if everyone is on the same page. This is often not the case when solo queuing, especially in lower ranks.

Tips for Solo Queue in Valorant

Here are some tips to help you rack up wins as a solo player:

1. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

As we mentioned before, you'll probably have a more difficult time coordinating with your teammates. But that just means that you should put a bit more effort into doing so actively. Communicating callouts, hit markers, and even your preferred role and agent are all ways to improve your chances of success.

2. Be Comfortable With More Than One Agent

Yes, it is important to have a main role and agent to create consistency in your gameplay and rank up. However, there will undoubtedly be times when you can't play what you prefer. It's vital to have enough proficiency with other agents that can fill your off roles to the point where you are not a liability.

3. Block Out the Negativity

You have to keep a positive mindset when playing solo. This can mean muting toxic players or taking breaks when you are feeling tilted and are entering a losing streak. There's nothing wrong with taking a breather when playing becomes stressful.

Hopefully, you now feel better equipped to play some solo queue games. GLHF!
