How does Gekko's Wingman ability interact with Spike sites?

Hey all. I was playing Valorant last night with my friends, and they were discussing the new agent and something about its passive ability interacting with Spike sites. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, so I felt a bit out of the loop. 
Do you know what they were talking about? Also, what is the purpose of Gekko's Wingman ability?
