What is the difference between Radiant and Immortal in Valorant?

I heard my friends talking about these ranks the other day, so I was curious to know: what's the difference? Which one is better? Thank you for clarifying.

Radiant is the highest rank achievable in the competitive mode of Valorant, while Immortal is the rank just below it. The skill gap between Radiant and Immortal players can be significant, with Radiant players considered to be among the best in the game, since only the top 500 players at a time can have the rank.
