What is Valorant Vanguard?

Every time I play Valorant, and I check my running processes, I see this thing called Riot Vanguard. I did some research and found out that it's some kind of anticheat software, but I wasn't cheating when I found it. Please can someone give me a simple explanation of what vanguard actually is.

Vanguard is an anti-cheat system that is required to be running to play games like Valorant- all it does is check your PC for running 3rd party programs that have been recognized as cheat software or software for making cheats - and prevent those programs from working. Unless you're *actually* a cheating scumbag, you probably won't even notice it running in the background.
